Wish You A Merry Christmas

My Christmas wishes fly to you,
Like lovely snowflakes from the blue,
Spilling gently from my heart,
Falling softly through the dark,
Until they find your candlelight,
Through whispering winds that sing of night.

May peace and joy wrap you in,
Blankets of love, where hope has been.
And may your kind and gentle ways,
Be blessed with happy, peaceful days,
Becoming more beautiful with every thought,
Like every flake the earth has caught.

!!!Merry Christmas!!!!

Mumbai is Mine

This a dedicated to the amazing city AMCHI MUMBAI

A City where every impossible is possible and unbelievable happens..
Where everybody wants to fall in love first and then marry.
Where there is place for every Tom, Dick and Harry
Where telephone bills make a person sick.
Where a person cannot sleep without a sleeping pill.
Where carbon-dioxide is more than oxygen,
Where the road is considered to be a dustbin and is toilet to humans.
Where college canteens are full and classes empty,
Where Adam teasing is also making an entry,
Where a cycle reaches faster than a car,
In some areas all the time pedestrians get there before the vehicle rider.
Where everyone thinks himself to be a bollywood star.
Where sky scrapers overlook the slum,
Where houses collapse as the monsoon comes.
Where people first act and then think,
Where there is more water in the pen than ink,
Where the roads see-saw in monsoon,
Where the beggars are richer then hardworking educated citizens.
Where the roads are leveled when the politicians in power visit city.
Where education of college and hospital admissions mean hard cash on table.
Where cement is frequently mixed with ash.
Where millions move every year for living and love it
You say "town " and expect everyone to know that this means south of Churchgate.
You speak in a dialect of Hindi called 'Mumbaian Hindi', a roughness of which has no parallel in the world.
Your door has more locks then the buttons on your blouse, or zipper grooves on your pant.
Rs. 500 worth of groceries fit on a palm size paper bag.
Train timings (9.27, 10.49 etc) are really important events of life subject of conversation.
You spend more time each month commuting than you spend at home.
You call an 8' x 10' clustered room a Hall.
You're paying Rs 10,000 for a 1 room flat, the size of walk-in closet and you think it's a "steal."
You have the following sets of friend: school friends, college friends, neighborhood friends, office friends and yes, train friends, a species unique only in Bombay.
Cabbies and bus conductors think you are from Mars if you call the roads by their Indian name, they are more familiar with Warden Road, Peddar Road, Altamount Road .
Stock market quotes are the only other thing* besides cricket which you follow passionately.
The first thing that you read in the Times of India is the " Bombay Times" supplement.
You take fashion seriously.
Hookers, beggars and the homeless are invisible.
You compare Bombay to New York 's Manhattan instead of any other cities of India.
The most frequently used part of your car is the horn.
You're suspicious of strangers who are actually nice to you.
You insist on calling CST as VT, and Sahar and Santacruz airports instead of Chatrapati Shivaji International Airport.
You consider eye contact an act of overt aggression.
Your idea of personal space is no one actually standing on your toes.
Being truly alone makes you nervous.
You love wading through knee deep mucky water in the monsoons, and actually call it ''romantic'.
Only in Bombay , you would get Chinese Dosai and Jain(pure vegetarian) chicken. A city of great inventors of food dishes.
The worst criminals of the world prosper there, you live with them, and believe it does not happen to me. Mumbai has been labeled the topmost crime city in the world. Criminals prosper in high, medium and low societies there.
Yet every one is attracted to Mumbai for its glitter of Bollywood and wealthy it can make to enterprising souls faster.
Located in the state of Maharashtra this city is claimed by Indian of every language and state as his own.

Curvy women are cleverer, have brainier kids

Now that's some interesting Info that i came across while surfing.

London, Nov 11 (ANI): Ever wonder why men find curvaceous women more attractive? Well, that's because women with a curvy figure are brighter and give birth to brainier kids, according to a new study.

Scientists at the Universities of Pittsburgh and California, Santa Barbara, found that women with large hips and small waists are cleverer than those with either "apple-shaped" or linear bodies.

The study, to be published in the journal Evolution and Human Behaviour, also discovered that curvaceous women give birth to more intelligent children because hip fat contains polyunsaturated fatty acids critical for the development of the fetus's brain.

The researchers believe that the results shed light on why many men find curvy women more alluring.

For the research, the team used data from a study of 16,000 women and girls, which collected details of their body measurements and their scores in cognitive tests.

They found that those women with a greater difference between the waist and hips scored considerably higher on the tests, as did their children.

The researchers say that the ideal ratio for an intelligent curvy woman lies between 0.6 and 0.7.

They suggest that the fat around fuller hips and thighs contains higher levels of omega3 fatty acids which are essential for the growth of the brain during pregnancy.

Although these theories anticipate confirmation, Paula Hall, a sexual and relationship psychologist with Relate, said: "Having research that proves you can be sexy and intelligent is really positive. It shows that curvy women may be better at things other than raising children and doing cooking and housework."

The team said that their findings may also explain why children born to teenage mothers do worse in cognitive tests - because their mothers may have had deficient stores of the best fatty acids.

"The cognitive development of their children is reduced, and their own cognitive development is impaired compared with those mothers with a later first birth," Times Online quoted the researchers, as saying.

The study noted, however, that children born to teenage girls with traditional hourglass figures seemed to be protected from this phenomenon and fared better in tests.

Several scientific studies have shown that men are "hard-wired" to find women with a greater waist-hip differential the most attractive. However, no one has yet been able to elucidate this, although theories include better fertility, better childbearing abilities and longer life expectancy.

Dr Harry Witchel, a senior lecturer in physiology at the Brighton and Sussex Medical School and a body language expert on the television programme Big Brother, said: "Until this point the only thing we have accepted is that they [curvy women] are at an advantage in contemporary western society. What these people are saying is that they also have an advantage biologically." (ANI)

Happy Diwali

One of the biggest festivals of Hindus, Deepawali or Diwali in India is celebrated with lots of enthusiasm and happiness. This festival is celebrated for five continuous days, with the third day being celebrated as the main Diwali or as 'Festival of Lights'. Fireworks are always associated with this festival. The day is celebrated with people lighting diyas, candles all around their house. Lakshmi Puja is performed in the evening to seek divine blessings of Goddess of Wealth. Diwali gifts are exchanged among all near and dear ones.

The auspicious day of Diwali is decided by the moon position & according to the Hindu calendar, Amavasya or the "no moon day" is considered the perfect day for Diwali. The dark night comes after every fortnight & in the Hindu month of Kartik (October/November), it marks the festive occasion. The Diwali date holds an imperative meaning among the Hindus, since, the day is reckoned with Lord Rama's coronation ceremony as the King of Ayodhya after his return to the kingdom from 14 years of exile along with his wife Sita & brother Laxman after killing the demon, King Ravana. People celebrated this occasion by lighting diyas to drive away the darkness of amavasya.

Guys,take note of this

If you have to open your mouth, don’t put your foot in it. Here are things you must never say to your sweetie.

Luckily, humans haven’t evolved to the point of reading each other’s thoughts yet (not that we know of, anyway). Chances are we would have wiped each other out ages ago if we could hear the unfiltered inner dialogue of our fellow men and women. Sometimes, these secret thoughts slip out in moments of brain-dead cluelessness. They can be career suicide if divulged at work and socially devastating if unleashed amongst friends, but nowhere else can they be as damaging as when they are blurted out to your girlfriend. Here are some of the most common things guys just shouldn’t say to their girlfriends.

SAY YOU SAY ME: Be supportive towards her

SHE’S HOT!
File this one under ‘E’ for ‘extremely freaking’ obvious!’ It’s natural to look, normal to admire, but just downright stupid to vocalise to your girl. Even if your girlfriend is the first to notice and comment, it’s not an invitation for you to starting panting in agreement. What it is, though, is an invitation to tell your girl how much hotter she is. She knows you admire other girls from afar, but she just doesn’t need it thrown in her face. Depending on your individual relationship, it might even be kosher to point out an attractive female from time to time. Be tactful, keep your wits about you and your unabashed gawking can continue without serious consequences.

MY EX WOULD...
Looking to immediately start a fight? Compare your current girl to your ex, whether it be favourably or otherwise. She trusts that you’ve moved on… completely. Bringing up your ex in any light brings this all into question. Telling her how your last girl would cook your favourite pasta or give you back rubs will certainly not result in a massage. It will result in her fretting away about you straying back to the meatloaf-cooking ex. And a girlfriend in that state of mind is a girlfriend ripe for fighting. You are forgetting that girls develop an instant and all-encompassing hatred for a guy’s ex-girlfriend once they begin dating. You are safest to not even bring her up, under any circumstance.

YOUR FRIEND IS A FOOL
Girls develop a special brand of loyalty usually only found in soldiers or abused dogs. So calling one of her girlfriends a fool is going to get you nowhere —even if it is true. If you want to keep things in a good way, respect her the way she respects you. If the situation continues to affect your quality of life, corner the lady and ask her point-blank what her problem is. Most of the time it will revolve around you hogging your girlfriend’s time, or a perception formed almost exclusively on your girlfriend’s commiserating with them during the rocky patches. If this girl can’t get over her hang-ups and come around to your side, it’s time to let your girlfriend know. But choose your words carefully, and do your best to avoid flat-out calling her friend a fool. It will make your argument a lot easier to win.

TOGETHERNESS IS BLISS: Think before you make a comment

I AM NOT GOOD ENOUGH FOR YOU
Girls dig confidence, and moping around whimpering statements like this will be a major turn-off. Keep your chin up and remember that you are a superstar and she is lucky to have you. Even if you don’t feel that way, acting like it will make you more like the man she wants you to be. She’ll feed your ego and breed real confidence that ultimately ends with you becoming a better person. But whining about your shortcomings will plant seeds of doubt into her head. It puts you further under the microscope and could eventually convince her that you are right — she is too good for you. Nice job, hot shot.

IF YOU REALLY LOVED ME YOU WOULD…
This lame, desperate line of reasoning rarely (if ever) works. Putting conditions on her love for you is about as low as it gets. You are smart guy; you don’t stoop to this level to get what you want. Bribe her with flowers, shower her in chocolate, or just man up and ask her straight. That will get you a lot closer to what you want than trying this pathetic rationalisation.

YOU ARE JUST LIKE YOUR MOTHER
Girls love their mothers with a touching and inspiring level of intensity —- but they also fear few things more than becoming their mothers. So letting this slip will lead to many, many problems, whether you are right or not.

I AM NOT IN THE MOOD
It’s an odd double standard that few people talk about. Women can use just about any excuse in the book to put off sex, from hair appointments to gas pains. But if a guy is too tired or just not up for a go, it rattles the very foundation of the relationship. She thinks men are sexual deviants with no off switch, and your saying no means something very sinister and deep in her mind. It’s almost better go through the motions. You can try to explain to her rationally, but all she will hear is you telling her she’s overweight, or that you already got some with the cute receptionist in the copy room.

I DON’T LIKE THAT PIECE OF CLOTHING
Women have been extremely sensitive to being controlled by their men. So loaded statements, even made off-the-cuff, can get your girl’s back up and make things really interesting. Of course, by really interesting, we mean intense, uncomfortable and completely devoid of sexual contact. If she is wearing it, she happened to like it enough to spend money on it. Making an announcement like this not only brings her tastes into question, but it also leaves you looking like a backward, unsmart man.

DON’T GET SO EMOTIONAL!
Injured cows, Oprah, sappy car commercials — it doesn’t take much to get girls crying. Most of the time, we find it beautifully endearing. But when things are a bit scrappy and the waterworks come out, it’s easy to snap at her. Don’t. She can’t control it; women are just wired differently than us non-feeling, emotionally bankrupt men. It is in your best interest to ride out the tears and eventually work things out without resorting to this clichéd response to her display of emotion.

Why we sleep: It’s not just for that rest

New Findings Suggest That Sleep Plays A Crucial Role In Flagging And Storing Important Memories
Benedict Carey

The task looks as simple as a “Sesame Street” exercise. Study pairs of Easter eggs on a computer screen and memorise how the computer has arranged them: the aqua egg over the rainbow one, the paisley over the coral one — and there are just six eggs in all.

Most people can study these pairs for about 20 minutes and ace a test on them, even a day later. But they’re much less accurate in choosing between two eggs that have not been directly compared: Aqua trumped rainbow but does that mean it trumps paisley? It’s hazy. It’s hazy, that is, until you sleep on it.

In a study published in May, researchers at Harvard and McGill Universities reported that participants who slept after playing this game scored significantly higher on a retest than those who did not sleep. While asleep they apparently figured out what they didn’t while awake: the structure of the simple hierarchy that linked the pairs, paisley over aqua over rainbow, and so on.

“We think what’s happening during sleep is that you open the aperture of memory and are able to see this bigger picture,” said study author, Matthew Walker, a neuroscientist who is now at the University of California, Berkeley. He added that many such insights occurred “only when you enter this wonder-world of sleep.”

Scientists have been trying to determine why people need sleep for more than 100 years. They have not learned much more than what every new parent quickly finds out: sleep loss makes you more reckless, more emotionally fragile, less able to concentrate and almost certainly more vulnerable to infection. They know, too, that some people get by on as few as three hours a night, even less, and that there are hearty souls who have stayed up for more than week without significant health problems.

Now, a small group of neuroscientists is arguing that at least one vital function of sleep is bound up with learning and memory. A cascade of new findings, in animals and humans, suggest that sleep plays a critical role in flagging and storing important memories, both intellectual and physical, and perhaps in seeing subtle connections that were invisible during waking — a new way to solve a math or Easter egg problem, even an unseen pattern causing stress in a marriage.

The theory is controversial, and some scientists insist that it’s still far from clear whether the sleeping brain can do anything with memories that the waking brain doesn’t also do, in moments of quiet contemplation.

Yet the new research underscores a vast transformation in the way scientists have come to understand the sleeping brain. Once seen as a blank screen, a metaphor for death, it has emerged as an active, purposeful machine, a secretive intelligence that comes out at night to play — and to work — during periods of dreaming and during the netherworld chasms known as deep sleep.

“To do science you have to have an idea, and for years no one had one; they saw sleep as nothing but an annihilation of consciousness,” said Dr J Allan Hobson, a psychiatry professor at Harvard. “Now we know different, and we’ve got some very good ideas about what’s going on.” NYT NEWS SERVICE

CONFIDENCE

Who's putting you down? If it's someone else, it really doesn't matter. Your own self-confidence will ride it out. Anything others send your way will just roll off your back.

But if it's you who's putting you down...you have immense power. You can make yourself feel incredibly small. And you don't even need any help. But there is no reason. Like everybody else, you have both strengths and weaknesses and you should have confidence to follow both, eager for success, aware of failure and ready to face both, knowing that they are both steps on any journey.

What is confidence?
Your love for your real nature.
The destruction of your negative thoughts.
The transformation of imagination Into reality.

Don't let the person closest to you hold you back.
Anyone who ever gave you confidence, you owe them a lot.

Try and Try

I have always seen life for what it really is.
Ever since I was a child growing up, hard times are all I know.

Life is like a newborn baby struggling to come out of its mother's womb,
life is a struggle true enough, but after all the struggling you have done,

Don't let life beat you or you will be walking around like zombies.
Keep on pushing, keep on trying, life can be whatever you make it to be.

But life can also be a bowl of cherries with whip cream and apple pie.
I say this again; life is what you make of it.

You can achieve or conquer anything it throws at you,
you can't quit or give up, you have got to keep on working,

Life is nothing but a big struggle .....
just keep the faith and focus on your goals.

Wine, Water and Beer

To my friends who enjoy a glass of wine... and those who don't...

In wine there is wisdom, in beer there is freedom, in water there is bacteria.

In a number of carefully controlled trials, scientists have demonstrated that if we drink 1 liter of water each day, at the end of the year we would have absorbed more than 1 kilo of Escherichia coli, (E. coli) ¡V bacteria found in feces. In other words, we are consuming 1 kilo of poop.

However, we do NOT run that risk when drinking wine & beer (or tequila, rum, whiskey or other liquor) because alcohol has to go through a purification process of boiling, filtering and/or fermenting.

Remember: Water = Poop, Wine = Health

Therefore, it's better to drink wine and talk stupid, than to drink water and be full of crap.

There is no need to thank me for this valuable information: I'm doing it as a public service

The Art of Looking

Look clearly at life and not just your own,
how much is reality, and how much is unknown.
It's not measured in beauty, possessions or wealth,
but measured in consciousness and judged by yourself.

Do you wonder if this is your chance,
to examine the future and all that might last?
Material things just gather the dust,
whereas thought becomes life force and this is the thrust.

A look in the mirror at the start of each day,
a vision of emptiness ...but a nice résumé.
It's all in the cards ~ but its not yet a deck.
sit back and slow down, take the time to reflect.

Look clearly at life and into your own,
understanding the choices that cannot be postponed.

Google Mobile Phones Coming (G Phone)

Google has been lobbying the U।S. government for changes in wireless policy. While it did not achieve as much as it wanted in the planning for the upcoming 700 Mhz spectrum auction in January, it did push for the fact that consumers in the U.S. can buy any phone and use it on any carrier in the future. Meaning, that when the Gphone does drop, most likely you’ll be albe to use it on any carrier you please. The Googlephone will most likely be 3G as well, which means video conferencing, yea you can’t do that with the iPhone. For you iPhones users though, would this be enough to make you switch?

The Observer of London is reporting that Google might be working with HTC and mobile/telecom giant Orange to build a Google Mobile Phone, which could possibly have Google software inside the device, and would be able to do many of the web tasks smartly. The device, article speculates, could go on sale in 2008. (Of course, we would all have forgotten by then… if it doesn’t happen.) Orange and Google, both declined to comment.

Their plans centre on a branded Google phone, which would probably also carry Orange’s logo। The device would not be revolutionary: manufactured by HTC, a Taiwanese firm specialising in smart phones and Personal Data Assistants (PDAs), it might have a screen similar to a video iPod. But it would have built-in Google software which would dramatically improve on the slow and cumbersome experience of surfing the web from a mobile handset.

Tears

Tears of joy and tears of grief
Tears of sadness and relief
Tears for every high and low
Tears that let our feelings show
Private tears and tears we share
Tears that let us know we care
Tears shed with friends in sympathy
The tears we shed in symphony

Tears at weddings births and wakes
Whatever kind of tears it takes
Happy tears and tears of pain
And sometimes tears we can't explain
To ease our hearts God gave us tears
To ease our minds to ease our fears
Tears of loss and tears of hope
God gave us tears to help us cope

Beware the man who will not cry
For he his feelings would deny
The tears we cry show our devotion
So cry your tears to fill an ocean.

Google and Microsoft Face Off

While it's heating up outside across North America, it seems there's nothing hotter than the battle being waged between Google and Microsoft.

In recent weeks, months, and in some respects years, both companies have been forced to defend themselves for their impressive places within the search and software spheres. Now the two are at each other's throats, with Google alleging that Microsoft's Windows Vista is hurting competition and should be adjusted for antitrust purposes. (Source: washingtonpost.com )

So, what's got Google so hot under the collar?

Google is upset over the way Vista runs external desktop programs. The case is similar to the one that emerged in the 1990s between Microsoft and Netscape, once a browser titan (now reduced to the recycle bin by Internet Explorer).

Microsoft trounced Netscape's case in the '90s, and critics believe they'll defeat Google here, too. Software expert Rob Helm argues "Microsoft beat Netscape in part by leveraging its relationship with PC manufacturers...This is a lot subtler." (Source: pcworld.com )

Indeed, Vista doesn't prevent Google Desktop from running, the latter just doesn't run particularly well on the new operating system (OS). That's because most of the built-in search engines (Start Menu, Windows Explorer, etc) are proprietary, and installing secondary software slows down an already demanding OS.

Although Microsoft's policy on this one is expectedly sneaky, it's hardly criminal. Most experts, including Helm, believe Google will fail if it pursues the matter deep into U.S. courts.

In all likelihood, it's the pot calling the kettle black. "Even if Microsoft's software was perfectly written, the way Google interacts with it might be bad, and either company might be at fault," said Helm.

Thoughts to Live By

"There is no difficulty that enough love will not conquer, no disease that enough love will not heal, no door that enough love will not bridge, no wall that enough love will not throw down, no sin that enough love will not redeem... It makes no difference how deeply seated may be the trouble, how hopeless the outlook, how muddled the tangle, how great the mistake. A sufficient realization of love will dissolve it all. If only you could love enough, you could be the happiest and most powerful being in the world... "

ISOLATION

One of the characteristics of human beings is that we are social creatures. We need love. We need to identify to people. We need companionship. We need interaction.

Some of is need more than others, some less, but we all need others.

But others are not always there for us. Sometimes we find ourselves in a new environment. Or we are shy or socially awkward. Or somehow we just get left behind.

First, make sure you are your own best friend. Sure, we need others, but we need ourselves and our own support and encouragement.

Second, understand that loneliness and isolation is only temporary.

Third, make plans to ensure that it IS only temporary. Find an activity you enjoy and join it Sometimes we feel isolated when people at work or school don't share the same interests, but it is easier to connect with people who chare a common interest, such as acting or cricket or football.

Of course, the best way to have a friend is to be a friend, and there is no better way to meet a new friend than by offering to help them. :-)

LEARNING

Did you know that what you think of last in the day and what you think of first thing in the morning are best remembered? That's why students studying for exams review their most important or most difficult notes just before bed and over breakfast.

What if every day before bed we taught ourselves to love? Or to control our anger? Or all about how valuable we are? Or whatever self-improvement message we really need to absorb?

What if first thing in the morning we focused on that same message again? What if we did this for a month or two? Can you imagine the impact that could have on our lives?

Sure, brushing your teeth is important, but there are other vital things to do with that time, too.

Power

The world is like a stormy sea, and you are the captain of a fine vessel - the vessel of your life. The waves rock your boat to and fro. Sometimes they rock so long and hard that you feel seasick.

The waves are caused by wind and other forces beyond your control, beyond even your understanding. But the boat is controlled by your steady hand. That's right, your steady hand. You can keep the boat stable and avoid seasickness. You just have to choose to exercise your power and keep the boat from rocking. Sure, the waves will still splash, but the boat needn't rock.

Or you could let the waves control you with their power. It's your choice whose power should succeed.

Listen to my heart

So often we worry about the words we use in prayer. We focus on the words. What really counts is the spirit and intent behind our words. It is the spirit and intent that the Creator responds to. He reads and listens to our heart. Prayer isn't only when we fold our hands and pray. Prayer is when we talk to the Creator even when we are walking down a path or sitting on a hill or walking in the mountains. The Elders say, walk in prayer. We should be willing to talk with the Great One.

"What does it matter how long I pray, so long as my prayers are answered?"

Great Spirit, today I will pray to You all day. Listen to my heart.

One Year.............

So here we were...our first wedding anniversary!!! Awwwww! Can you believe it was a year ago...and what a crazy, amazing year it´s been!!!Tomorrow 19th May is a special day as it's a year since she and me tied the knot.

It feels good being married and I've enjoyed the last year lots. Even though I'm only just getting used to saying "my wife" without it feeling a bit weird.

Its just been a year and we together have experienced many emotions together.. being with her is great but.. i still cant read her mind its been a mystery to me... or should is say it a universal fact that all women are mystery to men. i guess its better this way, more the mystery, more would be the interest and excitement to know her.

I want her to know that I consider myself the luckiest man alive to have her as my wife and that she means everything to me. I want nothing more than to grow old with her and spend the rest of my life with her.

As the messages get forwarded along, the list builds and builds and builds, and all it takes is for some poor sap to get a virus and his or her computer can send that virus to every E-mail address that has come across his computer. Or, someone can take all of those addresses and sell them, or send junk mail to them in the hopes that you will go to the site and that person will make five cents for each hit.

How do you stop it? There are several easy steps:

1. When you forward an e-mail, DELETE all of the other addresses that appear in the body of the message (at the top). That's right, DELETE them. Highlight them and delete them, backspace them, cut them, whatever it is you know how to do. It only takes a second. You MUST click the "Forward" button first and then you will have full editing capabilities against the body and headers of the message. If you don't click on "Forward" first, you won't be able to edit the message at all.

2. Whenever you send an e-mail to more than one person, do NOT use the "To" or "Cc" fields for adding e-mail addresses. Always use the "BCC" (blind carbon copy) field for listing the e-mail addresses. This way the people you send to will only see their own e-mail address. If you don't see your "BCC," option click on "To" and your address list will appear. Highlight the address and choose "BCC." It's that easy. When you send to "BCC" your message will automatically say "Undisclosed Recipients" in the "To" field of the ones who receive it.

3. Remove any "FW" in the subject line. You can re-name the subject or even fix spelling.

4. ALWAYS hit your "Forward" button from the actual e-mail you are reading, not from the one who sent it to you!! Ever get e-mails where you have to open ten pages first to read the one page with the wanted information on it? By Forwarding from the actual page you wish to be viewed, it eliminates extra e-mails people have to wade through.

5. Have you ever gotten an e-mail that is a petition? It states a

position, asks you to add your name and address and then requests that you forward it to ten or 15 people or your entire address book. As it is forwarded on and on it can collect thousands of names and e-mail addresses.

FACT: That petition is worth a couple of bucks to a professional spammer because of the wealth of valid names and e-mail addresses on it. If you want to support the intent of the petition, send it as your own personal letter to the most effective source. Your position may carry more weight as a personal letter than does a laundry list of names and e-mail address on a petition.

And think about this -- Who is supposed to actually send the petition in after the names are collected? And don't believe the ones that say that the e-mail is being traced. It just ain't so!

6. One of the emails I hate is the one that says something like, "Send this e-mail to ten people and you'll see something cute run across your screen," or sometimes they just tease you by saying something really good will happen soon. IT AIN'T GONNA!!!!! Trust me, some of the same ones went around ten years ago!

I don't let the bad luck ones scare me either, they get trashed (could be why I haven't won the lottery??)

7. Before you forward an Amber Alert or a Virus Alert, or some of the other ones floating around nowadays, check them out before you forward them Most of them are junk mail that have been circling the net for YEARS!

We have a choice

Having choices makes us fully accountable. No one can make us think anything we don't want to think. No one can determine our behavior and how we act. It's not what's going on but how we look at what's going on. If someone does something and we get upset, we can change how we look at it any time we want. We can tell ourselves in the morning that the day is going to be beautiful and that we have expectations that great things will happen. Doing this daily sets our mind to look for the joy and the excitement of each day.

"We don't have to say or think what we don't wish to. We have a choice in those things, and we have to realize that and practice using that choice."

Live This Life

I truly believe that everyone in life should be able to do what they want to do.

I don't believe in social classes, I don't believe the rich should be the one with Luxaries, and I think the less fortunate should also have a slice of the good life.

I don't believe in "borders", and that only certain people can do things, and that anyone is higher than the next person. I believe that anyone should be able to travel to any country, and visit, without having to shell out a ton of money to do it.

I believe that none should have a person telling them what to do, none should put anyone down or turn down someone, because of looks, age, sex, weight, or national of origin.

I believe we all have the chance to make it to the top, but it's shattered, because of people around them, or the media, telling us only certain people can make it somewhere. Which is totally judgemental, and totally rediculous.

Life can be free, and fun, but you got to get rid of all the negativity, and stand up for yourself. Don't listen to anyone who offers only negative criticism, only those who can make you a better person, in the long run.

I believe we should try to help anyone who has less, and encourage those who have more to give to others.

I also believe if we get knocked down, we have every right to try harder, and give them 1000% of everything we got. Ponder why you failed, and work on it, and make it better, dont just give up on something, because one person told you it was bad.

So remember live this life, be happy, and go after your dreams

Love in the times of instant messaging

I'm pretty sure that every person reading this post, or for that matter even those who are not, own a cell phone And if they are in a relationship, or once were, or are looking for one, they must have more than often depended on this little device to reach out to their partner.

One does not need any survey or study to realize how important cell phones have become in our lives today. It has grown beyond a simple tool to stay in touch and has often been the comforter, communicator, friend, confidant, and much more. No one would have ever imagined the degree to which the cell phone's status has risen in our lives – from friendly chats to taking significant decisions, it does it all .

Cell phones have become so common that it is no longer unusual to see students talking and texting their friends even during lecture sessions. While parents may have introduced their kids to cell phones thinking it would help keep a tab on them, but for children it's like being given a new lease of life. The phone has especially come as a boon for those kids who are awakening to new-found feelings of love and find this tool an easy means to explore those feelings !

Thus, as with various other facets of our lives, cell phones also have a huge role to play in our personal relationships.Distance has lost its meaning thanks to the cell phone which allows us to connect to our partner almost instantly .

Ironically, if the result of a new workshop is to be believed, cell phones can actually prove to be a big hurdle in our love lives.

In book'How to Play Hard to Get: How to Catch and Keep Mr Right, Not Mr Right Now'relationships say that women who want to attract and keep a man's attention should go for the old-fashioned style of playing hard to get and write love letters, for sms love messages can actually sabotage their prospects of finding love.

They point out that when a woman sends a sms to her boyfriend or a potential boyfriend, she frets terribly till she hears from him.The more time the man takes to respond to her message or call, the worse her imagination gets. She starts assuming that he is having an affair or probably isn't too impressed by her and is therefore avoiding her.

Of course, writing a love letter in blood may be charming in its own way, but how much blood does one waste if one wants to communicate as frequently as possible. In this instant sms era, where you can text your loved one at thedrop of a hat, patience is no longer a practiced virtue.

Psychologist, points out, "It is thanks to technology that nowadays even when partners are travelling they can be in constant touch with each other, thereby reducing the missing factor !"

Me too hasn't stopped me from owning two cell phones. so whenever she feels the need to talk to her partner, she gives me a missed call and i calls back –a new trend in cell phone etiquettes based on the old idea of the gentleman picking the tab."But if I am in a meeting or when we are in a situation when we can't talk we usually sms,".

While it does not feel that we've become too dependent on cell phones to sustain relationships, she does agree that it has helped in improving the emotional bonds between the partners."In the pre-cell phone era also people used to enjoy good relationships. So it would be wrong to say we are more dependent on cell phones to make our relationship work. But yes, it has increased the bonding and the two people become emotionally attached in a shorter period as they are able to communicate and share more frequently. When either partner gets angry it is easier to make up as we can immediately talk over the phone and sought it out,".

Young or old, cell phones have helped couples explore their relationship and understand each other better. "Thanks to the cell phone.

The cell phone also continues to play an important role in the lives of married couples. With little time to spend with each other during the week they make up for it by talking on the phone and texting each other. In fact, the cell phone is not restricted to helping couples keep in touch and keeping the fire of marriage alive. Mobile dating is also on the rise. It works on the same principal as the traditional marriage broker. Once an individual registers with a mobile dating service provider, his or her profile is matched with a similar one of the opposite sex and the couple can interact and meet up if they desire.
As the latest cell phones come with the latest mobile technology such as cameras, broadband wireless connections and MMS, sending and receiving pictures or text to prospective partners has become common place. This allows the couple to decide whether they want to take things forward and also saves the embarrassment of meeting and realizing that the person is not your dream girl or man!

Things you didn't know about Google

The name Google is a spelling error. The founders of the site, Larry page and Sergey Brin, thought they were going for 'Googol.' Googol is the mathematical term for 1 followed by 100 zeros. The term was coined by Milton Sirotta, nephew of American mathematician Edward Kasner, and was popularized in the book, Mathematics and the Imagination by Kasner and James Newman. Google's play on the term reflects the company's mission to organize the immense amount of information available on the web. Initially, Larry and Sergey Brin called their search engine BackRub, named for its analysis of the of the web's "back links." The search for a new name began in 1997, with Larry and his officemates starting a hunt for a number of possible new names for the rapidly improving search technology.

The reason the google page is so bare is because the founder didn't know HTML and just wanted a quick interface. Due to the sparseness of the homepage, in early user tests they noted people just kept sitting staring at the screen, waiting for the rest to appear. To solve the particular problem the Google Copyright message was inserted to act as an end of page marker.

Google started as a research project by Larry page and Sergey Brin when they were 24 and 23 years respectively. Google's mission statement is to organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful. The company's first office was in a garage, in Menlo Park, California. Google's first employee was Craig Silverstein, now Google's director of technology. The basis of Google's search technology is called PageRank that assigns an "importance" value to each page on the web and gives it a rank to determine how useful it is. However, that is not why it is called PageRank. It is actually named after Google co-founder Larry Page.

Google receives about 20 million search queries each day from every part of the world, including Antarctica and Vatican. You can have the Google homepage set up in as many as 116 different languages -- including Urdu, Latin, Cambodia, Tonga, and Yoruba. In fact, Google has the largest network of translators in the world.

In the earliest stage of Google, there was no submit button, rather the Enter key needed to be pressed. Google has banned computer-generated search requests, which can sop up substantial system resources and help unscrupulous marketers manipulate its search rankings.

The Google's free web mail service Gmail was used internally for nearly two years prior to launch to the public. The researchers found out six types of email users, and Gmail has been designed to accommodate these six. The free e-mail service recently changed its name for new UK users. Following a trademark dispute with a London-based Independent International Investment Research, the mail account has been renamed Google Mail.

It would take 5,707 years for a person to search Google's 3 billion pages. The Google software does it in 0.5 seconds. Google Groups comprises more than 845 million Usenet messages, which is the world's largest collection of messages or the equivalent of more than a terabyte of human conversation.

The logos that appear on the Google homepage during noteworthy days and dates and important events are called Google Doodle. The company has also created an online museum where it has all the logos it has put on various occasions so far. Dennis Hwang, a Korean computer artist in the United States, is the guy behind these witty Doodles. Hwang has been drawing the face of Google for over two years.

You have heard of Google Earth, but not many know there is a site called Google Moon, which maps the Lunar surface. Google Moon is an extension of Google Maps and Google Earth that, courtesy of NASA imagery, enables you to surf the Moon's surface and check out the exact spots that the Apollo astronauts made their landings.
